Adult Basic Studies Program (ABS) classes prepare ESL and English-speaking students for transition into the high school program and career and technology courses, as well as help them achieve personal or workplace goals.
Adult Secondary Instruction Skills/High School Diploma Program is a competency based adult high school diploma program designed to teach academic and life skills necessary for success in today’s world. Students have the opportunity to improve reading, writing and math skills, earn a adult high school diploma, prepare for the GED certificate, enhance academic skills needed for job training, and develop life skills. Concurrently enrolled high school students may take classes for remediation, or to repeat, accelerate, or prepare for the California State High School Exam. All courses meet A-G Requirements for CSU and UC requirements including SCANS and State Standards competencies. Students are required to meet 80% proficiency on all worksheets, written exams and tests. Most classes are taken in the Individualized Instruction Lab, Math Lab, or through Adult Independent Study.
